I prefer the Russian comfrey myself simply because it doesn't spread by seed. True comfrey will be everywhere if you start it. That can be a good or bad thing :) Russian comfrey threads are all over permies, with more information than you can imagine. It's very easy to grow. Take a piece of
root from an existing plant, stick it in the ground and wait. In most climates, that's all it takes. I started with just a few root pieces from Coe's comfrey years ago, grew out a few plants, and now I have hundreds. Both Russian and true comfrey are medicinal and great green manure plants, and the pollinators love them. Russian comfrey has very
deep roots and can be cut for green manure several times per season.
