I am the filet mignon of the insect world. I have tried every natural and chemical insect repellant I can find – internal and external – it doesn’t matter – I am the gourmet meal.

There are so many bites on my hands from garlic planting yesterday that I think I should go get some gloves before I finish planting today. Too many open wounds on my hands to be digging in the dirt all day.

My husband, on the other hand, can stand outside for hours and not a single bite.

You need some bats. The only advice I can give is to use some aloe gel to heal those bites up. Sorry.

Oh boy, do I feel for you, Jeanine.

See the lemon balm as mosquito repellent thread for ideas (more than just the lemon balm, which was my idea).

Also, Suzy Bean found a link for using dandelion root as a mosquito repellent.

I heard that some people recommend eating a lot of pickles, or vinegar-type foods for being more like your husband. And, people feed lots of garlic to their dogs and cats to ward off fleas.

If it might be chiggers it helps to shower right after working outdoors, rubbing thoroughly all over with plenty of soap. If skin is sensitive, be sure to moisturize with almond oil, coconut oil, lanolin or the like (no chemicals!). I am also a bite magnet and have scars all over my body thanks to the little friends who apparently love me....

I am also a bug magnet, the first to be bitten in any group. I have noticed that if I am taking vitamin B supplements, the kind that make your pee fluorescent greenish yellow, I will not be bitten as much. I figure the excessive nutrients are also changing my scent, or something. That said, I haven't taken supplements in years--I'm trying to fill up with nutrient dense foods. It's possible that brewer's yeast has enough B's in it. Basically, look for the change in urine color.
