Wassup fam,
Long time lurker, first time poster.
About us: Ski town refugees on 40ac down in the lowlands at 6800' zone 6b. The obscene wealth and complete gentrification of a once pleasant mountain town turned lord of the flies trust funder circle
jerk was too much to handle.
Got out while the gettin' was good.
Decided less was
enough. Becoming as
energy and food sovereign is a priority, as is living in a way that honors our mother earth and the collective of life. We have no children, but need to be able to look our nieces and nephews in the eye, and ourselves in the mirror as we bear witness to exponential nonlinear climate disruption.
Bought a neglected, but workable one bedroom house with a small orchard and two large greenhouses. We've got a well and a domestic
water tap that delivers via gravity one quart per min 24/7. (thats 360 gal/day, 2500gall/week)
Mostly Pinyon and Juniper, about 15ac. cleared for pasture, but needs some work. We border an 80ac BLM inholding with a canyon and small creek in the bottom.
In the 3 years since we've moved here we have:
Added mud room and
wood stove
Fixed some but not all irrigation
Added grape arbor
Replaced and added
trees to the orchard
Goat pen
Chicken yard
Currently winter projects include:
- a guesthouse / in-law shack.
-standing dead, thinning. (need a logging donkey or similar)
Future projects:
too many to list ....
3rd dwelling
PV for main house
water redundancies.
Peace.
Ralph
