I have some difficulty using many tools but it isn’t a height thing as much as I have small joints and many hand tools will cause carpal tunnel like symptoms to emerge. Even considering this I still prefer working with hand tools over electrical options. I was privileged to attend a Sepp Holzer seminar a few years back in Austria where I was introduced to a broad fork. I loved using it since I could jump on it to embed the blades in the ground and then dance or waggle around to dig into the earth. They told me they actually obtained their model from the US. I’ve looked around for one that was the same as the one I used in Austria but the ones I’ve found all seem much smaller and caution that they are not meant to be used to break ground. This surprised me as that is exactly what I used the broad fork for in Austria. I have bought one from a local blacksmith in my state and will update with its effectiveness. Has anyone else used these devices and if so what was your experience? If not are there any other suggestions for hand tools for tilling the earth?
