Hi,

I am staying near Manikgonj, Bangladesh with some people who are building a bamboo structure on some land they have purchased for a "natural farming" project.  They are eager to know about permaculture.  I am from Canada and am showing my friend this forum.  Perhaps there are people on here that can give him some ideas for how to proceed.  They have a shop selling organic produce in Dhaka, and are making connections with the local villagers to encourage them to transition from conventional to something more sustainable.  His email is delowarjahanbd@gmail.com.  Mine is contact@connectr.ca.  I think even if you aren't from near here but live in a similar area (river delta with alluvial soils and tropical monsoon climate), any ideas would be welcome.

cheers !

Thanks Casie.  What do you think about Jodi Torpey though ? She doesn't seem like a permie, but neither is my brother.  This might be a philosophical question, but don't you think a more mainstream book would be more useful to someone who isn't doing permaculture ? Not sure he has time for a lot of reflection about gardening, he probably would rather just do it.  So I'll probably just start with that.  Thanks for the list though, maybe I'll buy myself one of those books ! At this time I'm actually quite interested in winter gardening, since I live in Montreal.  If you know of a fun book for zone 5b, let me know

hi,

My big brother moved to Denver a few years ago, and he's gone all gung-ho on gardening

Is there a good book on permaculture/gardening in general I could buy as a gift for him ? He's not a permaculturist at all really, but I hope to secretly convert him

He works in tech, but he does like reading ..... maybe something that has a good narrative ? I saw there is one for southern colorado, over 6500 feet (Lisa Reyner).  Doesn't seem to exactly fit the Denver situation.  And I see now there is also one by Jodi Torpey.

thanks, hope to meet you all next time I visit from Quebec !
