Hello!

I cooked a little more then 2 cups of rice last night. I just added a little bit of olive oil and salt to the water as it was cooking.

I cooked 2 cups of quinoa on the stove top this evening. I realise as I post this that the photos don't show the stove - instead they show the inside of the saucepan with the grains boiling in water. I hope that is enough?

To cook quinoa, I cover the grains in water and cook with the lid off until steam pockets form. Typically I have to add some more water until the seed separates and softens, at which point it's done. It takes about 25 minutes. I seasoned with a little stock today.

I cooked rice for 4 people last night and took some photos of it being cooked on the stove top. I hope this helps fill in the blanks for my submission, above.

I cooked brown rice. I used a cup of rice and two cups of water. It produced nearly three cups of cooked rice.

I can no longer see that it’s simmering because the water has retreated beneath the rice, but it’s steaming.

Done and fluffed. It’s a little damp, but airing out will make it right.

I crammed it into a two-cup measure because I was t sure if the previous pic would be an obvious volume indicator.

I made a pot of quinoa and rice, which I’ll serve with roasted veggies and meatballs for dinner tonight. I added half an onion, sliced thin and cooked in butter before toasting the grains. Here’s a link to the recipe I based this dish on:

Note: Hard to tell the amount of grain cooked. Nothing to reverence the volume.

It's a tiny ad. At least, that's what she said.
