A very informative interview with Dr. William Davis on the effects of wheat to the human body.

William Davis, MD, is a preventive cardiologist whose unique approach to diet allows him to advocate reversal, not just prevention, of heart disease. He is the founder of the Track Your Plaque program.

The interview is conducted by Jan Irvin of Gnostic Media

I thought candy and bacon were the new murder. Followed closely by lunch meat , monosodiumglutimate and Monsanto. This news will surely change history.

Eggs used to be murder, not so much anymore, apparently.

Food is murder, basically. We should all be Breatharians.

Lard is making a come back!
Who killed lard (NPR)
I just made my first lard, from my own pigs, a few weeks ago. In fact, I can safely say I'm the first woman in my family to make lard ever (the bat mitzvah seems to have worn off).

I think most of permaculture might be based on kil'ayim, which could be a problem for yiddishkeit, at least in Israel. admittedly, my understanding of kashrut is mostly based on wikipedia, a couple of Chaim Potok novels, and one or two stories I heard on This American Life, so I am likely way off.

and you made me laugh.

Agriculture arose in that part of the world and made a mess of it! The bible attempts mitigation but they'd be better off with Pc ideas which they can do sans pig (though maybe not as tastily). As for making you laugh, well, the real holy grail (so to speak) would be to make you laugh and feel guilty at the same time!

So, without further hijacking the thread I'll leave you with this:
Challah doesn't kill people, people kill people.

ps
If anyone happened to be eating a piece a bread while reading that line, and started choking, please let me know. I'll have attained the holy grail (for the day, anyway).

I think the funniest diet fad ever to come along was the tapeworm diet. If you got a bunch of those folks in one room, the place would need to have the stupid steamed out on their departure.

Here's a proposal that beats the tapeworm diet all to hell. Use some sort of fleshworm for weight loss. Hopefully a worm can be found that prefers fat over muscle, tendon and bone. You really want a creature that will stick to fat and brain tissue since these are two body parts that the participants are not using and are unlikely to miss.
