It's so important to get your kids involved with you outside when you work. Whether you're working on the farm, the homestead or just cleaning up the yard, your kids should be part of that as much as possible. Not only will it help them develop good habits and work ethic, but it also gives them a sense of purpose and makes them feel like they are an important part of the household, which they are!

Kids are the future, after all, so taking care of them is essentially taking care of the future of our world.

So proud of you, Zoé! <3

Awesome work you are doing there.  Got me a little jealous of all those fruit trees you are putting in!

You are absolutely right about involving the children!

Take care!!

Thanks so much, C. E.! 2020 marks the third year that we will have fruit trees on our property. Some of the smaller ones that we planted the first year have hardly grown compared to those bigger ones that we adopted from a friend, which are a year older. It's a funny thing. Might have to do with soil quality or sunlight or other factors I'm not aware of. We've only had one fruit appear appear so far on one of the pear trees and it fell off while I was shaking the tree, trying to get the Asian beetles off. So I wouldn't get too jealous just yet.

haha... yeah. they take a while to get growing and make fruit.

a saying told for how transplant trees do:
1st year they sleep
2nd year they creep
3rd year they leap.

So hopefully this year they will put on some good and noticeable growth.

has something to do with them getting their roots established.
remember... better to put amendments on the soil around the tree(but 6"+ from trunk) and not in the hole they are planted in.   That lets the roots grab what they need and not be so well provided in the hole that they (the roots) don't want to go anywhere else(which... can effectively stunt their growth.)
