I'm proud of her for many reasons, but today it got even better. My daughter called me today and told me that the town she lives in has just started a green bin composting programme. The
city we lived in for years (40 minutes away) has had the programme for over 20 years, so I was surprised to hear they just started it in Stratford. Then she says "I was thinking about it and why would I give my compostables away?" She talked about buying a composter but I told her that she wouldn't have
enough to
compost well and she doesn't have money to buy one anyway.
She then told me that she was thinking of putting in a small garden, so I told her to get some
cardboard down now, cover it with material and bury her compostables in the bed. We talked about starting seeds but, when I told her that she could just buy the plants if she wanted, she said that she thinks it's a good idea to learn how to start seeds, so we talked about that. I've gardened for years and two years ago I was up to starting about 800 plants. She watered them for me when I was out of town, but didn't have much interest otherwise. It's nice to know that, now that she's out on her own, the infection has taken hold. She also said that she's decided she's going to live in the country as soon as she can.
She grew up with
chickens, quail and
rabbits as well as the garden, so she's spoiled now, lol.
