I just got a flag for violating the name policy here. And there is no way to respond to the flag other than to 'report' it.

Lisa Brunette is in fact my real, legal name. You might have asked me first, rather than assuming it's not. Or, you could have Googled me.

Pretty frustrating to get the flag, folks.

Thanks for reaching out.
I can't see why the system flagged the name as it looks like it matches the naming policy.  So I pressed some buttons and everything should be honky dory now.

Thanks for letting us know about the problem and welcome to permies.

Just wanted to mention that a similar thing happened to me, but several months after I first posted here.

Well, I did not want to report the flag either.

All the volunteer staff here is doing a great job and I didn't want to create additional hassle. I just found it curious that I had to swap a legitimate surname for a ficticious one, but that's not a real problem in my eyes.

Paul goes into the details here: https://permies.com/t/106355/real-sounding-edge-cases
But you notice I don't use my full name because it's a bit of an edge case.  If my legal name isn't good enough for Facebook then I don't want to push the boundaries here.

Yes, I did read through that thread when it popped up again.

I was not really sure why my chosen name fell into any of the categories.
I guess it is something like "you should not use your name if your name is also known as a brand name in the Western world - for a brand that was named after an existing surname" ;-)

But as I said, I won't question the policy or ask for any extras, as long as the policy serves its purpose.

Welcome aboard, Lisa!  Sorry we frustrated you right off the bat - we usually wait a few months for that!  ;).

But seriously, sounds like you are all set now, looking forward to reading about all your cool projects!

One of our staff said the name out loud. In his/her accent it came out as Ah-need-a Martini. That's something that can't be unheard...

Thanks for the laugh! ;-P
Yes, I guess this can't be unheard and I sure don't want to be responsible for inducing anyone to heavy drinking...
