Our rooster pulled the feathers out of two of our Rhode Island red hens when mating. The rooster disappeared about 3 or 4 months ago, and the hens are still bald. They are very healthy and even in the winter did fine. I was just wondering if they will ever regrow feathers or are they bald for life?

They will regrow, but maybe not until the hen's next molting cycle, when they naturally lose feathers and regrow new ones. I've had chickens for six years now, and seen them lose feathers for various reasons. Sometimes it's right before molting season, and the bald spots are covered up quickly. Other times it can take a while, like yours.
