I recently rounded up a couple cast iron cauldrons at a flea market.Got 10 pounds of marrow bones and followed
Sepp's recipe to make some bone sauce.I was having both deer and chipmunk problems with the chipmunks
eating more than the deer.Since I painted my fruit trees and some shrubs with it,nothing has touched anything.
This stuff smells pretty bad and it's not the kind of smell that would attract carrion
eaters either. It has too much of the bar room ashtray mixed with death smell.
Chipmunks had taken over two 4 foot tall hugulkulture beds I put in last year and ate the peas or beans
as they came up.I painted a few short branches with bone sauce and dropped them down their burrow holes.
It worked like a charm and I haven't seen any chipmunks at all since that day.
If you're on the fence about Sepp's bone sauce,I can tell you that it works really well.
Don't get it on any of the leaves though.Any leaves that got bone sauce on them, turned black and died
within a day.

Just a quick follow up on my previous post.
The chipmunks are squirrels are back and munching on everything in sight.
The bone sauce still seems to be repelling the deer.
The chipmunk repulsion was a short term bonus I guess.
Maybe if I keep re applying to the infested areas it will work again next season.
