It is moved!

And, you know it's spring when your ducks turn their mobile yard into mud every day!

My goose has been laying since Valentines Day! (We only have one goose, and a few days back my husband said his co-worker wanted to buy 1 dozen GOOSE eggs, and I broke out laughing. Like, it'd take nearly a month to save up a dozen goose eggs. That's like 1/3rd of the total amount of eggs she'll lay this year!)

What do people charge for goose eggs (for consumption, not hatching)? I'm seeing anything from $1/egg to $20. Three dollars/egg seems the most "common" price, but the "survey size" of info I found on google is pretty small!

$3.50 Can last year and likely $4 Can this year - feed prices have sky-rocketed!

Thanks, Nicole! :-)      And yes, while we look forward the snow being gone, two things await to cause anxiety:  Flooding (moderate to high probability this year) and Mud....cuz the animals will do their best Kitchen-Aid Mixer dance to celebrate the season!   :-/

That would make such a great permaculture meme - if I was any good as such things!

Muscovy ducks start making this weird chirping noise. Salty's doing it now and my big decision of the day is do I move her to a setting cube, or hope she'll change her mind....

I was thinking about this while working outside today.

It's the sound of chorus frogs, and the smell of burning fields.

Cole Tyler - that's great until Daylight Savings Time, a pox on that. Now I wake up in the dark, and have to stay awake to put the chickens away.

Spring is bulbs, crocus, daffodils, etc.

Honestly, spring here is frustrating. The nights are still too cold, but the days are lovely. Spring is too short for most "spring vegetables". The heat comes rapidly.

When you hear the thump-thump of music nearby, and turn to see your newly matured and very twitterpated alpha-male turkey 'drumming' at the derpy, not *quite* there yet beta male, for getting a bit too close to the only female - who is smooshing herself against the back of your leg.

Lol yes, very true on the time change...sure makes it feel like the days pass by quickly for a couple of weeks, too!! Oh yea - Daffodils, how could I forget? :)

You know spring is in the air when:

New leaves start appearing

Blossom trees 🥰

Gardening stuff in the stores

It’s still light when I leave work

Daffodils and early tulips are out
