Hi there. Enthusiastically read Ann Ralph's book Grow a Little Fruit Tree and planted a shipova pear tree in a space smaller than the tree would like to be in. The tree has a strong central leader, though, and is really not interested in being small. Does anyone know if they can be coppiced and still bear fruit?  I'm guessing not, since they take so long to bear fruit but am hoping to learn otherwise.

I doubt it, unfortunately. I think it would be very difficult for the tree to recover, and I don't think it would fruit anytime soon. By the time it did you'd likely want to coppice it again due to size
