Last fall I met up with Jordan Holland to grab a meal and get some tools from him that he wanted to go to
Wheaton Labs. The lunch was delightful and the pile of tools was amazing. The first picture shows most of them, a sewing machine is noticeably absent. Most of them were razor sharp which is unusual for tools at WL. I tried out the red axe and it was kinda scary how much
wood it would chop in one swing. The big one person saw cut really fast. I never got a chance to test it on a full size log but I bet it would compare favorably to the cordless chainsaws.
Since I've spent a little time at WL, I know that occasionally some expensive tools get mixed up with the tools that get a bit more abuse. Like the adze will occasionally end up with the pick axes. So on my day off I made a tool storage board that is up on the couch balcony. I'd guess that 80-90% of the tools on the tool board are Jordan's. Thanks Jordan!
If anyone is trying to think of antique tools that we need at WL to add to the pile, hand augers in the 1/2", 3/4", 1.5" and 2.0" range would be excellent. We already have 1" and 1.25". And log dogs would be a nice addition as well.
