My church is in turmoil.
My minister is leaving because of bigotry from within the church.
We are all hurting.

Saturday a bunch of us came together to move a church member who needed us.
John is an older man,  recently widowed , who was then displaced from a long time home into an apartment that then flooded .
They gave him a deadline to move in 3 days.
We moved him in one day, and today we returned to bring him new furniture and fresh food.

He is safe,  warm and fed, and helping  him has been a gift to  us.
We have more elder members who we might be able to help and John is our consultant, cause he knows some stuff about the subject.
We can't fix everything, but today we did something good.
It feels right, when so many things feel wrong.

It may seem like your church is in turmoil due to the pastor issue.. but if you and others are coming together to aid a fellow member, I’d say that your church is doing pretty good.

I am sad also, and stand in solidarity. I have personally experienced the malicious behaviour of certain people in churches who are only interested in power/control instead of taking on the individual discipline that defines the soul and purpose of the movement. Sometimes they also forget their founder was of middle eastern descent, and likely had pigmentation different from what they imagine.

Magnificent! And well done. What you do is what you believe. Everything else is noise.

Good for you William, and your church.

Church can be difficult at times, but atlas a church is made up of 100% sinners so perfect harmony cannot always be expected. That being said, I do differ from you slightly in that I don't think getting mad at bad guys is a bad thing. Dave Ramsey in his classes suggests it, because when people get mad, they act, and what I often see in the world today is people too afraid to act... to change things... and instead accept the status quo.

There is anger in the bible, written in the New Testament and in red wording when people were exploiting other people inside the church.

Change is scary because we often do not know what lies on the other side, but just because it will be different, does not mean that it is bad.

Sadly, people view hypocrisy and bigotry as a Christian thing, and it is NOT. It is a HUMAN-THING.

Thank you all for being  community that I can share with.
We are consciously channeling our anger into positive action.
Permaculture is figuring heavily in my person framing of this.
I could expend my energy trying to eradicate the  bigotry and poison my garden in the process, or I can feed the trees of love and compassion and hope bigotry will wither and die.
By acting as a gardener I focus on nurturing and protecting and that's how I want to be in the world.
