Hello all,
My fiance and I have a 200 acre farm. It has been used in the past for mostly horses. It has about 50 acres that is coastal Bermuda hay. There are 5 separate pastures totaling about 35 acres. There are two small ponds one is 2 acres the other is 5 acres. There are 3 springs uphill from the ponds.
Our hope is to turn the farm into a food producing with vegetable, fruit, nuts, berries and livestock. We both have had experience with the care of a smaller farm. We are asking for assistance in designing our permaculture master piece. We are located near Augusta Georgia. Thanks for all assistance. God bless.

Hey, I don't know of any designers, but I live near Augusta on the South Carolina side of the river. I am also interested in putting permaculture in place on our property. I will be following your posts. I did recently find this link www.weareallfarmers.org Does anyone know anything about them?
Maybe we can get a group together and have them come down and teach us where to start!!!

I'll help. I'm on the south side of Augusta (Hephzibah), been here for 4 years and am slowly turning my property into a permaculture exhibit. It's not easy though. Every time I want to implement an idea, I have to back up three steps and correct years of neglect by the previous owners. I sometimes wonder if it wouldn't be easier to scrape down to the clay and start over from scratch. But there is another end to permaculture, that of assisting the return to a woodland setting in a natural and not an engineered way. It means I have to give up my engineering mindset and look at problems with an ecologist's eye.

But yes, I'll be glad to help. Some of my plantings are doing quite well, and you are welcome to my seeds and/or cuttings. Here's the link to my blog.

I don't even know how to spell CIA. But this tiny ad does:
