BRK Day 21

Yesterday was a nice relaxing day. Me and Orin spent some of the morning cutting, chopping, and stacking firewood. After that I spent some time doing usual house cleaning like vacuuming and sweeping, then cleaned up the boot bathroom.
Once that was done I had the day to myself, so I headed out to the lab to scope out ant plots. After getting seriously lost (I only had to call Orin three times) I finally spent a few hours looking at the plots. So much to think about, what a decision!

BRK Day 22
Allerton Abby Time Lapse Day 1

It was a bit chilly out yesterday. I spent most of the morning making a sign and a photo stick out of roundwood (no glue or metal, yay!). After lunch I went out and looked at ant plots again before installing the post at the Abby. Location still subject to change, we'll see what everyone else thinks. I welcome feedback on perspective too if you'd like a different angle/view

BRK Day 23

Yesterday the morning was spent working on the fence at the Abby. I wish I'd remembered to take a picture, it's really coming along!
In the afternoon I spent most of the day mulching garbanzo beans on the berm of Arrakis (don't worry, I walked without rhythm). I spent the last few hours starting on a dry stacked stone retaining wall for a willow tree that is going to be planted on the side of the berm shed.

Here's a video from a week or so ago of Orin working on the dock

I was expirementing with time lapse software, so here's one of Josiah eating soup

BRK Day 24

Yesterday we did junk pole harvest, and I got a bb (yet to be certified) for junkpole collection.
In the afteroon I spent the day building a dry stack stone wall, which is another bb!
It was ridiculously nice out yesterday, and almost too warm. A nice change of pace. It's supposed to be 90 on Friday though!

BRK Day 25

Yesterday morning we spent the morning working on junk pole fence. I put up the middle horizontals while a few other people filled other sections. Scott graded the road on the tractor.
Most of us spent the afternoon pulling knapweed. We had a new boot named Simon show up around three (Welcome Simon!)

BRK Day 26

The fence around the Abby is really coming along! I believe we're at least half way done with putting up the four verticals and middle horizontal, but many spots still need to be filled.
We're going to attempt to get each section half full or so instead of putting up a temporary fence.

Tips and Tricks: Dry stack stone walls need to be 2 over 1 and 1 over 2 to be stable / long lasting

BRK Day 27

As usual, yesterday morning was junkpoles. We forgot the air nailer (whoops) but managed to notch almost all of the horizontals, and pick out four verticals almost all the way around. I suspect early next week we'll have something that at least looks like a fence.
After lunch we put in probably a few hundred onion seedlings on base camp, as well as ~two dozen peppers

Went into Missoula yesterday to buy some supplies for my plot. It's raining this morning which is perfect timing for seeding
