My goats are munching down the leaves that are falling off the trees right now. I am thinking about going around and getting all the leaves that the city folk bag up and using that as a feed source through the winter. any thoughts? has anyone ever done that before?

Once put into a bag, I'm afraid those leaves will steam up and mold or start to compost, which will make them unappetizing to the goats, or worse. If they are perfectly dry it might work, though there won't be a lot of nutrition in them. Or if they are packed wet and tightly they might make something like silage, but I'd think they would have to be green to do that correctly....

I don't know about bagged leaves, but you could try to collect nuts like acorns or hickories as fodder.
