giving the cast iron article a bit of pizazz

There is this fella that came up with some excellent artwork for my flea control article and my lawn care article.  And now he wants to come up with stuff for my article on using a cast iron skillet. 

But what?  What could he draw that might make that article really pop?

The one thing I can think of is to show a rough cooking surface where the valleys get filled in with polymerized oil, and the peaks get trimmed by the spatula.  And then after hundreds of layers build up you get a glassy surface.

But surely there has to be more than that.  Something fun.  But what? 

Anybody have any suggestions?

A cartoon of a too-hot skillet with a water droplet silently vanishing, a just-right skillet where the droplet dances around, and a not-hot-enough skillet where it puddles and bubbles.
