I didn't go into details on purpose because our experience was unique and I didn't want to personally damage someone's reputation based on their mistakes, but if you really want to know I'll explain in more detail:
We were told we would be a paid position from Day 1 due to our skill set, but we never received any payment despite 2 full months of work to include repairs, remediation, remodel, trash disposal, gardening, chicken care, and maintenance.
We were told we would include the local community in our establishment of the ecovillage and the owner instead wanted to hide illegal activities and building practices, so it felt like he was only trying to get away with making money on a property that was not approved by the city.
We also were given responsibility to add new members of the community upon approval and instead he added 4 new residents without our approval and those residents had no interest in an ecovillage concept. Money seemed to be his only motivation at that time.
The existing structures are not maintained, and when we moved into our house it had substantial mold and other issues that he wanted to just cover up.
Again, I hope things change, but he has had this property for over 10 years and he hasn't been successful in the ecovillage concept due to his lack of follow through.
Hopefully I've explained in enough detail why I warn others about this place, although I'm a trustworthy enough person that I shouldn't have had to go into that much detail. Hope this helps.

Unfortunately, through this site, we pursued an opportunity to cultivate a neglected property in Ruidoso, NM. We prepared months in advance, moved our entire family and lives and came to a property that is run by someone who may have good intentions, but does not follow through on promises. If you are enticed by "Paradise Ecovillage" in Ruidoso, NM, I strongly advise against making any long-term decisions before visiting and carefully considering what you are doing. The property is run to attract renters and is not interacting with the real community of Ruidoso. I am not posting this to hurt anyone's reputation, but I wish someone would have mentioned their bad experience at this property before we moved there so we could have avoided our hard work, integrity, and care from being taken advantage of. I hope this post will help someone in the future. God bless!
