You just squish the darkened hulls off with your shoe and then store the nuts? I thought they were supposed to be scrubbed and sprayed clean after the hulls removed.

That's right Brody.  Just an old sneaker and the pavement.  For me, the dryer the better, as there is less "ick to stick".  We only have seven trees, so I just rake them up, throw them into a carrier, move to the pavement and roll under foot.  Nuts in shells go into cool, safe storage the critters can't get to. As we only eat and share with friends, we don't need anything further.

we've been harvesting fallen walnuts on a monthly basis for years, IMO, easier to remove the skin when skin is dried and black, so no problem other than beating the squirrels to the punch.  To remove the skin (err, dehull), I just roll them under my foot to get the majority of the dry skin off.  After we collect and , and remove the skin, the walnuts might sit in the shell for a year until we process by shelling, soaking in salt water, then roasting very low.  We've got a great hand-cranked shelling device that makes that work pretty easy, and noisy.

thanks for the hint I should keep my posts politik-free.

I'm sorry Jae.  Referring to the WesternGarden book on the shelf - Perhaps the root-store was not damaged, and only the root-tips-feed area is damaged.  Not a great situation, but the root-store might keep the tree thriving through the summer and autumn.  Anyway, if you have the WesternGarden book, I'm looking at the "basic planting and care" section, "how plants grow" subsection.

And along the lines of this project, I live in a city where the city "owns" the trees on the verge, but I am responsible for the sidewalk being smooth and flat.  I cannot prune, or touch the tree. Should the city's trees damage the pavement, I have the honor of paying at least 50% of repairs.  After some 10 years of repeated damage, I have the honor of paying for the removal of the city tree!   And now the kicker - the contractor the city use to "repair" the pavement just cut the root-tips area - just whack away at them, literally - no concern at all for the health of the tree.  Ugh.

Gray nailed it, you want clumping bamboo if you want a chance of containing it, runners require a lot of work and digging.  I have used mylar buried at depth to contain runners, but to no avail - just a lot of work.

I remember in one of the classes of Geoff's PDC, he talked about the different species and the interesting bit that runners and clumpers grow in opposite seasons.  If it isn't the season for growth, there is 0 growth.  Now there must be a grand plan for that somewhere...

my mother was also of German raising, and I learned so much culinary skill from her - all absorbed over time, innocently.

but Argentina has suffered a monetary collapse in early 2000s; Perhaps your husband departed before that time.  I wonder if Argentinians have become more frugal since?

Yow, it all depends on what you were doing and what you were feeling when you first heard that song.   While the guitar and singing is fantastic, the lyric is oh sombre enough to say Paul Brady's 'Arthur McBride' fits the bill for vocal songs for me:

For classical, there is not enough time.  And speaking of not enough time?  back to a pop song as Tom Waits comes to haunt me.

Quite right to understand the radiation patterns of the target equipment, and each add-on coming later.  Gray's advice on hiring a skilled lawyer in helping with a contract is great:  You know the telecomms folks have their share of lawyers, enough to pull quick ones on the FCC whenever they want more.  I don't think this is anything like a win-win situation, especially with the knowledge that your neighbors will be aware of the situation:  will they ask for you to share your income?  would you ask the same of them, should the tower be in your neighbor's yard?  It is a tough position Andrea is in.

I found Arthur Firstenberg's "The Invisible Rainbow" an eye opener a few years ago.

Best of Luck.
