Cooler temps then most of the east side. Beautiful views and off grid. Looking for people who enjoy being in nature and are not so addicted to technology. Organic small homestead with organic gardening, A2/A2 dairy cows, chickens, etc.
Help can be temporary or if we all get along more permanent options are available. Also investment and business opportunities are available for the right person.
I'm a single Christian female in 40s. Must love animals or be good with them.
Right now I just need help with basic chores such as follows and if someone would like to stay longer there are bigger projects as well.
Pick up propane in the next town which is only once every so many months.
Cut grass & weed wack in warmer seasons.
Help move chicken houses.
Carpentry help would be great. Can be small projects or working on larger projects whatever you can offer.
Firewood sawing and splitting.
Pick up some groceries no more than once every two weeks in the next counties.
If someone knows how to use animals for work or is experienced with machinery, tractors, equipment, etc that would be a plus.
Hay making.
Fence making.
Please send me a purple moose message and then we can talk directly. Thanks.
Are you sure they are mosquitoes? They say that the smell of chickens actually deter mosquitoes. People now in Africa and other countries put chickens near the beds at night to keep mosquitoes away. If they are mosquitoes, then I wonder if they were genetically engineered and altered as many things are. Are they on the chickens or just around? Are they biting you or just around?
The contact button says do not reply to this. So where do you send questions and why do you have it listed as a contact button if you don't want us to use it? How does one edit a post? This is the most confusing site ever.
Hi, I have a homestead and am seeking male help. Not sure what experience you have with farming, carpentry, etc but you can send me an email and we could chat and see if anything matches up in interests and goals, etc.
I'm an hour and half from Harrisonburg in a very rural beautiful area and I do have a spot to rent and do organic gardening and you can join in the gardening. If you need to temporarily come here while still looking to move closer to the city, then send me an email and we can chat and see if it would work out for you or not.
Hi Andy, Are you still available to help? I am a single Christian lady 40s trying to run a homestead by myself. Have a beautiful property in mountains in Virginia. Would love any temporary or permanent help. Please email me if you may be interested. I do all organic, have animals, gardening, like to do wood projects and build small cabins and much more. Business opportunities could be available too. Thanks.
Hey, I'd love to chat with you shortly if you have some free time. You can send me a email message and I can schedule a time to talk if you are available.
Hi, C Douglas,
How can I contact you directly. My email is mustobeyacts2_38@yahoo.com. I'm also considering going some of the places you mentioned and would be interested in asking you some questions and talking. Thanks, Tara
How do I contact Collier Winegarden to find out more info about Ecuador? I'm not that great with navigating this site. Thanks. My email is mustobeyacts2_38@yahoo.com
There are so many things to research about an area. Just read some good comments on MO both good and bad. I haven't been there. I'd like land with water and away from electricity but others can be closer to it. They have a lot of factory farming out in MO so I'd have to check that and then fracking, etc. I don't know the areas though. Doing some research. I like cooler places but outwest has forest fires and they spray fire retardants and chemicals and I can't handle that sort of thing.
Need a fit male who has experience with most aspects of farming, livestock animals, construction and natural building, permaculture, etc who can live on and help out with my off grid homestead. You must be able to afford your own food and necessities although my garden food is available to share or anything we can grow. If we get on well, then business opportunities will be available when some more of the work is complete. I do organic chemical free living and I am a Bible believer. You must use natural products only. I have natural products such as soaps, laundry soaps, etc that I can more than likely share. Please email mustobeyacts2_38@yahoo.com with photos and information about yourself. I'm in cooler temps in the beautiful mountains in Virginia. Probably someone in their 30s or 40s will match with me. Someone with carpenter skills especially with hand tools would be great. I do have a chainsaw.
This is for a single person who would like to get a break from EMFs, technology, chemicals, etc and enjoy and relax in nature. Open site with beautiful views. Only water and sewer hookup are available. No electric hook up is available. Total Fees are $25.00 per night with up to a two week maximum stay. Reservations can be made by the email contact below and if you leave a phone number and time to call, we can call and discuss any questions you may have. All payments are due either before or at the time of entering the property.
Fire ring and firewood are on site and included in the fee. No outside firewood is allowed to be brought on site.
Road to property is a country road and is partly rocky but you should be fine if you drive slowly. Vehicles that are very low to the ground would need to be cautious.
No pets allowed. Farm has cows and a small farm dog. No feeding of animals are allowed. All animals are on strict natural organic diet. No leaving of food on the ground which the animals could get into.
No chemicals are to be used or sprayed on property. Owners keep a strict organic property and get sick from chemcials, EMFs, and mold. No lysols, chemical cleaners, perfumes, etc. Natural essential oils as needed or natural scents as needed are okay. Natural cleaners can be used. We can help with natural cleaners and soaps if necessary. Let us know this in advance.
No electronics that send out signals and no cell phones or wireless devices are allowed. If you must have one brought with you, then it must be completely turned off and placed in a microwave oven locker while on property so that it does not send or receive or search for signals or must be disconnected or turned completely off if it can’t be removed. Right down the street is a country store and cell service can be used there.
RV length will need to be discussed.
Primitive Tent Camping could be used but you would have to bathe with water heated in a pot with fire or use your own propane stove. Compost toilet is available. As soon as we can get the funding we will build a bath/kitchen house but do not have one at this time.
Illegal drugs, smoking, drunkenness, partying, and swearing are prohibited.
Owners are Bible believers and prefer a mature peaceful setting and would like their privacy respected. They will be around to help you though if needed.
Anyone who enters the property legally agrees that owners are not liable for any injuries, damage, or theft of any kind to yourselves, your vehicles, RVs, tents, or any of your property whether personal, tangible or other. This is a working farm which always has risks. You must be careful to stay off of all fencing which will have barb wire on it which keeps the animals off the fencing. The barb wire is sharp and will cut so don’t touch it. You must stay away from all livestock and animals as there is always a risk of injury from animals and you must never feed them or dispose any foods on the property. Foods must be disposed of in trash cans or burnt or must be properly stored away to not attract wild animals or allow farm animals to get to it. You will have to enter some gates to get to your spot. The gates will need to be closed after entering to make sure neighbor’s or owner’s cows don’t enter or leave properties. We hope you will enjoy your stay.
Property is in the mountains of Virginia.
Email gottagetbacktotara@gmail.com for any questions or reservations. We do not get online often so please be patient for a reply.
Need help assembling and installing a water windmill and outdoor plumbing. If someone has experience and can stay on my property for a few weeks or until it is done in exchange for this help it would be greatly appreciated. You can camp outdoors with a tent or RV or one person could stay in my tiny home with me. Thanks. Desperately need help. Located in beautiful mountains with amazing views.
There are no EMFs on the property but someone can go down the street to use a cell phone or the library for internet as well. There is no electricity or cell service on the property.
Seeking a homestead partner for a low rent. I have an organic property with no emfs and am starting a homestead. Different opportunities are available. Small rent fee in exchange for sharing a place with me and helping out or in future could possibly start a business together or build a tiny home in exchange for rent or help, or summer camping in exchange for rent or help, etc. Located in beautiful mountains in VA off grid. I'm a Christian single female in 40s. Looking for a like minded individual to be friends with and work with or if you'd only like to be a renter, that could also be arranged. Must be willing to live a chemical free organic lifestyle. Short term is fine and long term may work out if we get along well. Someone with permaculture skills and basic construction skills would be helpful. I don't get on here often so if I don't respond right away, please be patient. Please email me with a photo and info about yourself at mustobeyacts2_38@yahoo.com
Hi, I have a well and a Baker hand water pump. Same ones as the olden days. A strong man could probably be okay pumping it by hand but it is too much for me since my well is a little deep and therefore it is heavy. But a bike connected and/or animal device for my animals to do the work would be easy enough. It is my only source of water and the animals use the most of it.
Thanks. I'm hoping to use a windmill in the future but costs are prohibiting me right now. I desperately need a non fossil fuel, non electric way to do it for now until I can get a windmill and I will also keep the set up as a back up for when the wind may not be as abundant and the tanks run out.
Hello,
Not sure the best place to post this. Does anyone have experience or knowledge of using oxen, cattle, horses, etc for working and in particular does anyone have information on using them to walk around to make pumps etc to work for example to make a water hand pump work? Also, using a fly wheel and bike type apparatus would be another example to get a water pump to work that I would also need help with.
Need help with information on what parts to get, how to build it, or someone who can actually come to my property and help out with this. No Amish in the area so can't ask them.
Hi,
Seeking a male who would be interested in running a small homestead together. All organic/permaculture property in the mountains in VA. Would be just friends or business partners and see how we get along. Would need to enjoy living off grid and a natural basic lifestyle. No electricity, phone, or computer on the property. I don't smoke, drink alcohol, do drugs, or swear and believe in a Biblical lifestyle. Someone who likes to do work the old fashion way or by hand would be great. If interested, you can email me at mustobeyacts2_38@yahoo.com and we could talk more.
Sorry but I have severe sensitivities to mold, chemicals, and EMFs so no cell phones or wireless devices and no smoking, chemicals/perfumes. I do all organic and am off grid. It is like upgraded camping right now but have lots of projects that you could help out with like fencing, haybailing, installing a water windmill and tank, making a hay shack, and building small cabins, etc. I'd like to build some rocket mass heaters or small masonry heaters if anyone has experience with this. We can chat about it if you email and then I could call from a friend's phone. I'm not online often but my son can let me know when I get an email. That is why two email addresses are listed above.
I currently don't have an extra cabin or garden yet or I'd offer more but once these things are complete, I will be able to offer more. I do have free organic eggs available from the chickens. Thanks.
What brand or type of epoxy is used for the threaded rod in the stone? Is there a non-toxic one I can use? Does concrete or silicone not work to hold the rod and to keep water out?
Also, does anyone know where stainless steel threaded rods can be purchased at about 2 -2.5 feet long? Can basalt rebar be used instead of metal threaded rods?
What type of tool and bit does one use to drill a 3/4" hole in stone about a foot down? I searched for diamond bits but they say they only go up to 2" down. What type of tool can I use that will do it on a faster scale or at least go down a foot? Any suggestions?
Okay, so do I need to fill in any spaces with gravel or small stones or do I just fill up with stones of various sizes and leave spaces? So this is more like a stacking stone method and not a gravel and pounding method trying to crush stone down?
When I put the stones in am I trying to stack the stone horizontally or vertically (other than your comment about the ones on the outside walls) or are you just tossing them in and making them snug?
Do you know if there are any photos or videos online about this? I was searching but wasn't finding anything.
This question is for Jay C Whitecloud or anyone who knows the answer. I have been reading your info on the stone plinths but not sure I'm totally picturing the foundation right. Are you saying you make a rubble trench or gravel/stone trench all the way around the perimeter from the frost line and fill up to grade and then place the large stones on top and then connect the posts to the stone or are you saying that you are digging holes a certain size below each large stone and filling that hole only with gravel or stone from the frost line to grade?
