I’m 17 and I'm glad to here there’s others.Theres moments I feel very alone even amongst adults because of the way I think and the life style Im trying to build. I have friends who sit and listen just to hear what kinda “crazy” idea I’ve got next.
So the ranchers around here usually just chop ice in the big tanks. Some used to rig 20 pound propane tanks to fill with air and set them so the hose sat at the surface of the water. When turn on to a trickle the bubble keep the ice open. I want to rig a solar panel to run a submersible pump. put a little bit of hose on the pump. when the pump runs the water surface will bubble and therefor can't freeze.

Thanks. I'm not overly good at gardening but i figure if i start now i can get pretty good. I believe that small scale agriculture and working with Gods creation not against it( Permaculture) is the way to better the world for our short time on it.
Hi guys and gals. I was thinking about all the great plants I keep reading about and how I just gotta get them. I have one problem being 17 I don’t have a credit or debit set up. I operate entirely on cash. None of the stores in my rural area sell good heirloom seeds or perineal(typo). So I was wondering if anyone hear would want to donate or sell me some of their seeds. Things especially like Siberia bean trees and linden seeds. Sunckookes and comfory. If interested please send me a message.
Ps I’ll take any old seed you don’t want to plant. Thanks
I know this isn’t a new idea it’s just my take on it.
Also be aware it’s might have misspellings. And the coloring looks like a 2 grader could have done better. Buts hears my idea based on Paul’s methods.
The daily life of my dreams would be...
Get up eat breakfast and then feed my animals. Then I would go and do as I pleased. I wouldn’t halve to go to work. Wouldn’t half to make money. Instead I could weed my garden and chop fire wood so as not to be hungry or cold. I guess my limitations ate the rat race and lack of self sustainability.
So they are spring fill ponds. All the snow melts and the runoff runs down big gully’s so we collect some in dams are dirt is gumbo clay so I think it’s always muddy because the clay is suspended in the water. They all dried out this year. But most years the have water but rarely get more water after the spring rains end.
I was wondering if you took a dam that is always muddy water and planted some Catails and under water plants maybe tossed in some minnows or goldfish maybe a bluegill. Would it settle the mud a clarify the water/ make it better quality for the stock.
Ok the reason I was looking for opportunities fo extra was that experimental livestock usage is a passion. I love the Sepp Holzer quote if your plan doesn’t involve pigs you need a new plan.(paraphrased of course).
Theory? If one was a boot for two years and then earned deep Roots. Then with the deep Roots picked an ant plot. Worked the ant plot and achieved all the original ANT requirements do you earn a second acre plot?🙃
I love to work with livestock I don’t mind breaking horses. I have been learning to run machinery for a good while although it’s not my favorite. I would love to get a donkey, mule or ox to work at the lab. I love a hard days work but also like inventing. Been working out a freezer wofati in my head.
Sustainability is my thing I believe step back from large scale ag and giveing more people work/land food security would be achieved.
I’m only 16 I have two October’s to go till I am 18 so I am considering my options and this is pretty high on my list. What stuff do I do in prep 200 hours of podcasts and is there books I should read. Little in sight on me I live on the Montana North Dakota border I live on a ranch and love pigs and chickens. I love permaculture because it is about sustainably and lots of human scale agriculture.
Also from what I was reading livestock can be run on other parts of the acreage so if someone was an ant but had some goats and an ass or a milching cow there is pasture the don’t have to be raised on just your ant acre?
I have a couple bags of deer cover crop but it has a lot of sugar beet seed and radish’s and the sort. It will plant a 1/4 acre which happens to be a section of the corral I’m currently not using. I was thinking of spreading the seed with a lawn seeder then putting all the horses and 4h steers in the pen for rhe day to bury the seeds. What do you think will it work.
I did kinda suggest it was junk cause most people see it that way. It’s alway Hank who hails away the “junk”. Some people thought I was a hoarder at age 13 but I’m not I just see value in things others don’t. Wood ash is valuable old motors heck yah. But I commonly refer to it as junk. The place is all junked up there’s a lot of treasures but there is a fair bit of real junk. Most of the old buildings are fallen in so there would be a lot of work to be done but that’s what I’m drawn to.
So my grandpa farmed there his whole life and his farther before him and he bought old tractors and junk from farm sales all the time and he never fixed it just piled it up but he died farming and I want to buy It from my dad and his siblings. This is all a dream and idea of a 16 year old and his dad.
