That's great, as I posted the prior reply I was thinking about if you were going to keep it indoors. It may be a great idea to grow avacados in bulk and then sell them before you leave so that you can buy away more avacados local to the area for a cheaper price than you sold the original avacados. It may be an interesting experiment to grow the avacado on a tray so that it doesn't get root bound and the roots will be able to develop far more without the ristriction of a pot.

I was just going to put it in a pot and have it be a houseplant until I move to a warmer area and then plant it in the ground.

where do you intend to plant it? if you want to plant it in a dry area i suggest you do so as quickly as possible so the plant can adjust and if you plan to plant it on a wet area than you may want to watch this video and potentially dig chinampas if possible in your area.

Haven't posted in a while and thought I'd get back into it with some photos of my avocado seedling!

The seed is from an organic avocado and this was my first attempt at growing one, so I feel lucky as I've heard it can be difficult. It took a good long while for anything to happen and I thought it was dead, but I gave it more time and it eventually sprouted. It's a little tall, so I pruned two small leaves this morning. We'll see what happens!

I believe it was started in February, so you're looking at a little less than four months.
