Thank you both! That’s the stuff, all right. Makes sense, too. They behave like fungus and I have a lot of well-aged wood chips in my pots this year.

I know them as birdsnest fungi, but yes a type of mushroom.

This year there are tiny growies in my garden containers that I’ve never seen before. They pop up in moist conditions like mushrooms, but they look like tiny cacti or succulents. Never getting much larger than a plump raisin, eventually the top opens to reveal an egg-cup shaped void with three tiny black seeds. Anybody know what this is?
