I had a friend that did this. She made friends with the Produce Manager at several grocery stores.
She received enough that I got the produce that was still edible. I would not rely on the letter approach. Talk to the Manager of the cafeteria in person. As far as I know, only a verbal agreement is necessary unless a person will be paying for the food waste. Of course, a contract or agreement would give a person exclusive rights. |

Not sure if this is the right thread for this.
I am looking at setting up a form of Geoff Lawton's "chicken tractor on steroids". I have seen videos online regarding systems set up to collect food waste from a store (or whatever) and feeding it to the chickens then compost the remainder. I do that now on a small scale. I would like to approach our local hospital cafeteria (I am a nurse). Does anybody have experience doing this? I am looking for a sample letter to send them as an introduction but would also like to see what others used for food collection in the way of buckets etc. What sort of agreement is typically done? Any info or experience would be appreciated. Thanks |
