This thread is all about Uprising Seeds

Uprising Seeds is a small family run organic seed farm and the culmination of years of fresh market farming, variety trialing, seed production and breeding work, and most importantly, a decades-long love affair with food and its power to bring people together. Our ideal vision of seed sustainability involves farmers and gardeners as the stewards of the varieties that they depend on. We are therefore committed to strengthening the public commons of seed genetics by working to preserve and improve open-pollinated varieties keeping biodiversity strong through adaptability and resilience.

Relationships are the cornerstone upon which we define ourselves as we pass on and add to the stories of these seeds. The health of our relationship with the land, the seeds, and ultimately the food that sustains us has the power to shape our present and define our future. We believe anyone can have a garden, anyone can save seed, and the more we connect to producing food, the stronger our communities become. Seeds are a gift to be shared, hard work to harvest and yours to plant. Uprising Seeds is adamantly opposed to GMO’s and considers it a challenge and honor to take part in the rebuilding of healthy and just food systems for all.

We love what we do. We grow our future together.

All our seeds are Open-Pollinated and certified organic by the USDA and grown by small family farms in the PNW.

I give this seed source 10 out of 10 acorns

I like that they are another small, independent company with a focus on open-pollinated varieties, encouraging everyone to save seed. My wife and I just learned of Uprising Seeds last year and ordered some beans from them which did very well in our garden.

I give this seed source 10 out of 10 acorns.

I just got my seed order today and it reminded me how much I adore Uprising Seeds. This company is a small-scale, family owned and operated seed grower and breeder. I appreciate that they focus on varieties that perform very well in PNW climates and that they have unique varieties that still grow well. They do all the basics right including shipping within the stated timeframe, good germination on seed, and detailed planting info on seed packets.

The things that make it a 10 out of 10 for me are:

- The handwritten note with every order. Whether on the packing slip or on individual paper they've always expressed gratitude for my order and well wishes.

- The Grow it Forward program which allows those struggling financially to get a seasonal seed bundle for little or no money, and those with means to contribute to that program.

- Their work on partnering to preserve heritage seeds from other countries and to introduce them to American buyers like the current Gusto Italiano project . It's so exciting to grow varieties that have such rich history and to continue the legacy.

- Their beautiful product descriptions which manage to make my mouth water, and which always convince me that I have more room to grow than I actually do. They include stories of their favorite meals, of how things grow in the garden, and of a seasonal life within their descriptions. I love it.

- Their cut flower selection. I've never been big on growing annual flowers but after getting a few varieties from Uprising and experiencing what it is to have fresh flowers in the house all summer I'm sold. Whether for the home gardener or a flower farmer their seeds are top notch, and they have so much variety to choose from.
