We are building new raised beds and they’re partially on our front lawn. The wood is very fresh and bright, so they stand out. We live in an upscale area and I want to keep peace with neighbours. I know the wood colour will mellow with time but want to make things easier for the neighborhood and avoid issues. My question is, is it okay to stain the wood? Will doing so affect performance or ability of wood to breathe etc? Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much Mark! I didn’t know about that channel so thanks for the intro too. I really like the idea of using sawdust and think well do that on the walkways inside of our garden, in between and around the beds.

I am new here and new to permaculture. Reclaiming g a a suburban front lawn with wooden raised beds-want to use hugelkulture in them.
I was planning to use hardware cloth at bottoms to keep critters out and line inside on the walls with landscape fabric.
My question is...is it okay to use hardware cloth on bottom if doing the above? Thanks in advance.
