Any other AK rocketeers?

Somehow I have been in a bubble over at Donkey's rocket mass heater forum and missed out on all the fun over here! I didn't realize that there was this much rocket activity! Are there any other people on this forum from Alaska who are or are wanting to be playing with rockets? Anyone else in AK who is heating with a RMH? I am in Homer and am on season three on mine and have been building them/ teaching workshops for the last two years (along with other natural building techniques) and I would love to connect with other people in AK. Not that I don't want to connect with the rest of ya'll, just thought I'd see if there were any others in my region.

I registered so I could respond. I am living in Anchorage and am very interested in the potential of a RMH. I have a standard home and am thinking of ways to implement one into the design. Regardless I am on board and am looking for like minded folk in the area. Have you found a large community here in SC AK?

Are you on the Permaculture Ning site? There's a bunch of us in Anchorage---we're having a face to face potluck next Sunday the 13th and then a seedling exchange on the 20th. I hope to get to meet you at one of those events.

I live in Alaska's only Bioshelter out here in Eagle River. I've invited Lasse to come do a workshop on RMH in the fall. I could use help rounding up the materials too. But we have a Finnish Stove here in the house.

I thought about joining the Donkey forum where you've been in your bubble after folks here posted some links to interesting things there (ie, the pizza oven phillipines thread), started reading the terms and conditions there, and decided I like the terms and conditions here ("be nice") a lot more, so I'll just refrain from putting my oar in over there.

Interesting stuff (known of rocket stoves for a while, but the RMH and rocket - fired ovens were new to me when I found this place - and pretty neat to see. I certainly like the rocket-fired oven concept a lot better than the brick oven, cob oven or even the double-chamber cob oven - sure it's burning the smoke off, but as a useless flare that does not contribute to the job to be done...while the rocket ovens are putting that fuel to work. And an oven that's actually ready to use in a short period of time is a whole lot more attractive - I've used a straight mass clay oven, and it was a tedious sucker to get up to baking temperature.

I'll be building an RMH in Southeast this summer.

Andy, where are you building a RMH? Sitka? Wrangell? Are you holding a class or are you just doing it?

Andy, do you happen to know Don and Sue Hull? Good friends of ours. I think they are in Craig---not sure. I lived in Wrangell for 9 years from 84-93. Anyway, Don and Sue would probably love to see what you are doing, if you are up for inviting folks.

I registered so I could respond. I'm not currently a rocketeer, but I'm considering a RMH as a heater for my coming shantyboat build. Hopefully, it can double as my ballast. We'll see what I can come up with.
