Please Don't Feed The Birds (that nest and poop all over our resturant) The owner of this popular ocean side eatery didn't think that the bird nests were a problem. Somehow he figured that a sign obsolved him of any responsibility in this matter. Nesting materials and poop fall onto the floor and there was poop on two of the chair backs. The customers sitting there were shocked. While we were talking about it, 2 feathers landed on a plate.

The manager came over and claimed to not know how such a thing could be dealt with after we all convinced him that it was a problem. I explained how the yellow pages work and suggested looking under exterminators. I gave him a week, after which I will call the food safety people. I doubt that they will give him that long.

What sort of birds were they? Are they edible? Take the guy a few recipes and watch the menu.

They look like sparrows so not a lot of meat there. Birds nest soup is a possibility but it would be fiborous. Bird poo soup and chili have already been consumed by many unsuspecting customers.

WOW! You'd figure that a business owner would have enough sense to take care of a problem like that. Certainly anyone with hands could resolve the issue.

Step1: grab nest

Step2: throw nest away (preferably in compost heap)

Step3: repeat if needed.

Step4: (Optional) Eat eggs or birds if desired.

I go through this every year with Robins on my porch. They get all excited to build a nest under the porch roof because the leaves really haven't filled out on the trees. So I end up moving a lot of nesting material for a week or so until the trees fill out. then the birds piss off.

UPDATE

Those nests are gone and they aren't letting new ones get started. I've been back a few times and the guy seems uncomfortable. He keeps looking over at me and the computer like I'm the Uni-bomber. That should keep him on his best behavior.

I don't eat out very often and this is the reason why. You work for a little in the food industry and it grosses you out.

Now I am super curious what sports would be like if we allowed drugs and tiny ads.
