I don't have a friend to ask and it's kinda tough to identify my plants with no name searching the internet. I really wish I could take walks with someone who knows... I am located in North Florida 20 minutes from beaches. The area I live in has swamps, river , lakes and ponds. I include this in case it may help in recommending books. Thank you in advance,
Angel

Here are some free sources to try:

http://www.nbbd.com/godo/ef/edibles/
http://www.wildfloridian.com/EdiblePlants.html
http://www.trails.com/list_2580_wild-edible-plants-florida.html
http://hernando.fnpschapters.org/pdfs/edibles.pdf

Hope you find some help there. At least it is a start.
