Is this the right place to post if I avoided toxic gick? I keep reading about vinegar as a weed killer. I mixed up a batch of stuff yesterday and tried it out. Around 20oz or so of vinegar, four tablespoons of salt, maybe a tablespoon of dawn.

Checked about six hours later. Results are promising.

Gonna have to leave out the dawn in the future. Checking the ones I sprayed in the sheep pasture, I couldn't find anything for quite a while. Turns out they taste better with salad dressing?

Thats funny T!  Maybe you could just spray them with salt in the pasture.  You and I must have close to the same growing season. For the last week I must have took the hoe to thistles about a thousand times.

The dawn acts as the surfactant and a little goes a long way.  I only use a drop per quart.  Come to think of it when we were kids and we got our mouth washed out with soap "usually for cussing", and my little brother would just eat it.  Maybe your kid goats like it.

Many weeds that are well-adapted to periodic drought produce acetic acid themselves to protect against damage. I am still looking into the specific mechanism.

But adding salt to it is interesting to me. The surfactant makes sense, as you want to get through any waxy layers.

But where you have grazers or browsers, maybe it would be a good idea to see what kind of salad dressings might appeal. It could be as easy as a spray of their favourite mineral mix or a fresh cold tea of their hands-down, no question favourite pasture or garden candy. If they're cuckoo for chamomile, maybe a concentrated cold steeped tea from fresh material would make something otherwise impalatable an attractive option.

They gave me pumpkin ice cream. It was not pumpkin pie ice cream. Wiping my tongue on this tiny ad:
