Profile pictures would be a nice personal touch. Is this doable?

Yes, at least it was possible in your profile signature before we migrated to new forum software.

I had a pic for a while, and another Mod, but it never caught on so I deleted mine.

Looks like it may be a bit more involved to do with our new software, let me give it a go and I'll post back the instructions for you Okay?

Yes Paul, like 'Bear' I got a pic to show up when viewing my Public Profile, but not by my name or in the signature of my posts.

I thought this was what Michael was asking for.....

Is there a way to add a small, say 60x60 pic to one's sig? I'm still playing with it, but no go so far.

Edit: This is what the sig says -

Signature: This is a text block that will be added to your message's end. Optional, limit of 255 chars. No more than 2 lines please.

So no html code allowed there, and no place to 'upload' via some javascript either.

However, to add a pic or two to your bio: While in your profile page, click on the first + to open up your bio section.
You will have to upload your pictures to a place on the Web, then in the Picture text field box - just link to them - like this without the quotes: "http://www.currentwave.com/avatar-me50.png"

Hope this helps,

Jami

I think this software originally came with stuff to do that, but we turned it off because people tend to make their pic be something .... too obnoxious.

Now that the software has evolved so much that it includes something so that names go through an approval process, I wonder if it might be possible to do the pictures - but they go through a similar submission framework. It would require some dev work. And some of those developers look in this forum at times ...

That should be possible.

Not currently - like you found out. Personally, I think the 60x60 pic would be better displayed beside/below your name on each post (the same place where you currently see your location, number of posts etc...) instead of as a signature.

I agree, but in the Sig space was all we could do with the old software so I started fiddling there.
