Big Dreams in Central Maine

Hi Everyone!

I'm so grateful to have found this site! My husband, son, and I just found and bought our own piece of paradise - 7.5 acres, an old (220 years) farmhouse, and a beautiful barn in Readfield, Maine. I had been hoping for more property, a bigger woodlot, but otherwise, this place has everything I could have hoped for and more. I've had a little experience growing, mostly veggies, and have done lots of reading and dreaming, but I'm thrilled to be starting out with our own property.

I have a million questions, but let me just leave one here, if I can make the image work. Anyone know what this plant is? It looks like strawberry, but the leaves are shiny, and I'm hoping it's not some weird iteration of poison ivy...

Hi Jessica - your place sounds wonderful, I'd love to see pictures.

I'm guessing that the plant is some kind of berry but I'm not familiar with plants in your area. Maybe someone else will have a clue. Anyone?

Maine has made some giant steps in making it a small, local farm friendly place.
Unlike so many other regions that make it nearly impossible for the small family farm to progress and prosper.

Perhaps you know by now that that plant is a blackberry, aka dewberry. (I think)
