What are these red baby bugs? Found here on goldenrod shoots. Shoots also have aphids.

Hi Joylynn,
The only thing I can think of that color are baby colorado potatoe beetles... but I don't know why they would be on golden rod.

Two different kinds of aphids! But don't worry, lady bugs will show up shortly to take care of them. Do you notice what might make this plant susceptible? Too much nitrogen? Stress?

Zone 6, 45 inches precipitation, hard clay soil

Well, maybe getting chopped down with a mower, and rhizomes yanked from the ground while trying to irradicate this particular patch wasn't condusive to a healthy plant. One can hope. ;D

It has been a while since I've had trouble with aphids. Never seen the red ones before.
