I wanted to echo a thank you for posting all these great pics and I also wanted to ask a question. It is clear from the construction that you are post concerned with weight on top of the roof and have gone to great pains to be sure you have adequate support for the roof. My question is about the earth (if any) that will sit against the walls. Do you need any extra support for that (like bracing dirrectly between the columns) or is the depth that the columns are burried into the ground deep
enough to support the latter pressure without moving? I know that you are using bolts/fasteners to hold the logs on top of the columns, but can that hardware withstand that much lateral pressure over time and keep the structure from slowly sandwhiching inward?
In all likelyhood you guys have already thought of this. I am just curious to know if it will be a problem or not. Thanks in advance for your reply.
