water or water based on another surface? Natural dyes/pigments can do most anything that their chemical counterparts can do. It is in the preparation. I don't have any first hand
experience except with dye baths but I did a bit of research to try to see about silk screen paints and resists and also just how to make dry pigments from natural dyes, etc. A fun area and it opens up all sorts of color possibilities.
I am guessing, but I bet all of the materials for marbling could be adapted to something user friendly (that I would be comfortable dumping down my sink to the garden).....
