I liked the book. I read a copy from the library and it is on my buy list. I have some knowledge of traditional timber framing so the book's coverage of that was good. It also goes into some none traditional framing techniques that fit with more contemporary design. I think that the chapter on finding used timbers and sawing timbers from your own wood lot is worth the cost of the book. kent
I have the book.. think it really has little to do with timber framing and more to do with blacksmithing since it is post and beam with metal connectors.
as anyone who has built a traditional cut frame can tell you.. wood to wood joinery is generally a lot stronger more stable and less prone to joint failure.. wood moves with wood.. but steel does not
We can fix it! We just need some baling wire, some WD-40, a bit of duct tape and this tiny ad:
permaculture and gardener gifts (stocking stuffers?)
