I have considered intentional communities, but most are not open to a single adult with a bunch of kids. Plus, we have worked so hard on our little homestead, giving it up is really not an option. I'd much rather the community come to me I've looked into putting up a little cabin and trying to find someone interested in staying in it.

Thank you. It sucks, but I suppose it is what it is. I'm a realist. Anything other than moving on seems unhealthy.

I've started a little homestead 16 miles from Clinton, MO. I'm recently widowed from my middle school sweetheart, the mother of three, expecting our fourth in May. Just wanted to say "hi!"

One dog has never been enough for us. When we have two dogs, it's been fine. Finding a good dog has been the hardest part. Our 6-year-old apartment-raised Pyrenees was the best with chickens.
