Hey Miles...I DO have some pigs. Now why didn't I think about that myself??? I rotate 3 American Guinea Hogs in the woodlot and in a portion of the lower pasture. I have seen what they do in the woodlot....but I guess I move them regularly enough in the summertime that they don't tear the Bahia up. I'll move them to the 1 acre spot and then see what they can do w/ that stuff dormant. Maybe I can have some Sorghum Sudangrass or something planted by the time the bahiagrass decides it wants to get going. Two of my AGH mamas are about to give some piglets...I may have plenty of roto-tilling going on!

They WILL eat the Bahia grass but would rather dig through it to find a grub or acorn.

I'm located in Central Alabama in the heart of Bahia Grass country. I have 18 grazeable acres and those are set up for rotational grazing. I have one paddock that is around an acre or more in size that is in thick Bahia. I'd like to take this paddock out of the rotation and put in a green manure crop or wait and put in Ryegrass/Clover in Fall of 2015. I don't use glyphosate so am looking for the best way to get started with this. Disk, disk, disk and then till? I don't have access to a drill so will be broadcasting my seed....
