Hi! I am a 21 year old groundskeeper and horticulturist. I am finishing up an associate's in horticulture this upcoming spring and want to start working in permaculture. I know I am posting a little early, but I want to get this out there.
As a groundskeeper I have been working with starting prairies and prairie management, as well as raised bed building, mowing, tree-planting, and all grounds management. I have done some basic beekeeping through my grounds position, and am going to continue to learn about beekeeping. My boyfriend is a vocational instructor in construction and works in demo and re-modeling homes for underprivileged communities. We do have an indoor cat that will continue to live with us.
Once we save up enough money (many, many years from now), we are going to buy our own land and have a small permaculture, mostly off-grid property of our own. The plan has been in the works for the past year, and we are wanting to start learning and working for an established farmer this upcoming season to learn every inch of small farm management.
Right now we are either looking for a live-on worker set-up with the ability to work part-time in town to keep saving for our future, or a position where we can live and work nearby and come on the majority of the time.
If you have any questions or interest, please reach out. We are both very excited to start this process- I feel like I'm always chomping at the bit to get started and going. Thank you so much!!!
