Those mavericks are nice trucks for what most people use a truck for (putzing around town, occasional long distance trips, and carrying light loads). We have several in the fleet at work, and they work well. They're just an escape with a truckish body, so they've gotten y good underpinnings.
The ladder rack had to go through a major transformation. All three dimensions needed to be changed. And because what hung over the cab had to be much longer and because what rested on the bed was about half - the whole thing had to be re-engineered. It was all cut apart and re-welded. A lot of metal had to be added. Then thorough sanding, then primer coats and fresh black paint. Fortunately, a lot of PTJ peeps wanted to learn all this metal working!
It sounds like the marriage ceremony between roy and the rack is tonight.
