Perform some sort of labor over the internet and get paid - PEP BB commerce.sand.internet

If I understand this BB correctly then I believe the ecommerce store I developed and run for my website would qualify as "labor over the internet".  

To describe my labor for this I built and maintain the whole website including the e-commerce store where I sell my artwork (vessels), chasing tools, and jigsaw puzzles.  I believe the labor of making and selling the art and tools will fall under a different BB but the puzzles and general website work seems like it would fit here.  This involves posting the "products", marketing through social media and various other venues, handling the sales with packing and shipping of the products.



I'm not quite sure how to provide proof I did the labor over the internet.  Well, I can share an image of a page on my Shippo account where I purchase my shipping labels as potential proof I am doing the work.  The fact that it is an ecommerce store means it has to be on the internet, and I linked to it above.  I can also include an image of my current stock of puzzles.  (As I type this they are currently still available if anyone wants one!)

For proof of payment I'll include a screen shot from my orders page that shows the sales totals for the different orders.  I haven't tallied up just what is shown in the screen shot but you can see it is well over the $50 required for this BB.

3D Printer Filament Review and affiliate work

Description: I operate a few 3D printers and do review work for several companies, as well as affiliate work for Zyltech. This involves receiving new printer filaments, checking their tolerances, ease of printing, and providing useful input about their printing settings, uses, and my overall thoughts.


This month so far I've accrued $58.87

I'm thinking maybe my post just above Brian's may have slipped through the cracks.  Does mine qualify?

It's an edge case and still under discussion.

Since we have a BB for selling stuff... not sure if this fits under that BB or under "performing some sort of labor".

Does "labor" qualify as working for ourself or is it necessary to be working for someone else who then pays us money?  
Then does selling qualify as working for someone else?

It's such a blurry line.  I suspect there are going to be a few more hours of discussion before we can find out where that line is.

Thanks for the reply R.  I agree it is a bit fuzzy.  I wasn't sure if this would qualify or not.  Based on the exchange between Kyle Bob and Mike Haasl earlier in the thread I thought it would.  I did already do the BB for making and selling my own work (art) using a check stub from one of my galleries as support.  With my puzzles I'm using the web to advertise and my ecommerce store to handle the transactions in an efficient way to make it a viable income stream with the limited profit margins.  

One could argue that the "labor" I'm doing is for others (my customers) who are then paying me.  I don't actually write myself out a check for the work done even if no one buys anything.  It's more like having multiple employers instead of just one.  To me this is part of the security of self employment!  

Regardless, I'm ok with whatever you all decide.  Glad I could be sticky wicket bringing the issue to the forefront to be worked out and clarified.  ;)

This is a bit of a tricky one.

I've been working at my day job from home from March through to July, but most of the conversations were done over the phone.  

Much of my job involves technical support and answering questions for shop keepers and professionals (basically, I'm the person the professionals call for help), advertising new products, copywriting, and improving the website.  But I had trouble finding things I could share publically since the business is very behind the scenes and the goal is to support the public personalities and professionals in this field.  

I tutor Composition over the Internet.  We barter, though, rather than use cash.  How would I show that?

Thanks for asking whether barter will meet the badge bit requirements. I'm not sure whether barter can meet the Badge Bit requirement of earning $50. I'll ask and try to get you an answer here.

As far as documenting it though; pictures seem like a good start. No need to expend that effort until we know if it'll fly.

I teach music lessons and all of my work has been online since March! If only I had taken pictures of lessons taking place at home, I could get the cottage industry BB, too.
