I boiled two cups of long grain rice in a stainless steel pan. I used approximately four cups of water and some star anise to give it flavour.

I cooked white rice on a stove top.
While plain white rice goes well with many things, I wanted to use something more special for this meal.
I used this recipe for coconut rice, omitting the cilantro: https://www.aheadofthyme.com/2016/04/easy-coconut-rice/

The process for cooking the rice is much the same as plain rice, but no butter is needed, a teaspoon of sugar is added, and coconut milk is substituted for some of the cooking water. Everyone enjoyed it!

Two cups of dry white rice, four cups water, a tablespoon butter, and a pinch of salt cooked for seventeen minutes make a great base for many meals, and I am pleased to say my rice turned out "perfect" says my mentor, taste-tester, and photographer. (Thanks Harmony!)

I usually use my instant pot for rice, but I was making broth in there, so instead, I made it the old fashioned way; on the stove top! Here is my brown rice: three cups! I boiled the water first, then added my rice and cooked for 35 minutes, as per package directions. Yum!
