This is a visible darn on a few holes in a thrifted cashmere sweater. I used cotton embroidery thread.

I LOVE this kind of visible darning!
You write you bought this sweater at the thrift store. Did you put it in the freezer first (for about a week) to kill possible moth larvae and eggs? (or use a different way to kill them)
Maybe the holes were caused by moth larvae ...

I darned my socks this morning while on a webinar. I like keeping my hands busy while absorbing information!

Hello
I have darned a sock
I used cotton embroidery thread, because it is cheap, colorful, and a natural material
I put a jar of jalapeños in the sock. I find it is easiest to darn things with whatever is nearby that you won't accidentally sew the sock to, and more convenient than finding a darning mushroom. I sometimes wear a sock to darn it, but it makes my knee sore after a while.

(Editing this to add- the sock had two holes, and I only fixed one so far, i will get the second one soon)

I saw that I had a sock with a decent sized hole in the sole, so I might as well use this as a BB opportunity.

I used to use the more common method of darning, but I found it wasn't stretchy and would sometimes tear out, so I started filling the opening with crochet instead. I find it's more comfortable and more durable as long as the whip stitching is deep enough.

I cut a length and using a yarn needle, i whip stitch the edge of the opening. Making sure the stitches get a good bite is important so they don't tear out later
