I am in a green belt in Payson, Ut. Zone 6a. I am developing some pasture that will have cattle on it occasionally. My question is what is the best wild flower mix to hydroseed the pasture with for my honey bees to collect pollen from?
I've always had good luck with pollinator mixes available at garden centers. In addition to your local wildflowers try adding buckwheat & clovers to the mix. Bee balm is another good bee plant. Borage. Mexican sunflower. You might want to contact other local beekeepers to see what they grow. Good luck & welcome to permies.
Argue for your limitations and they are yours forever
I have been thinking of buying a pollinator plants blend early this spring to beautify the drab hillside covered with litter and grass by my apartment. I'm just worried the massive amount of pesticides all the landlords here spray would kill any bees it would attract.
Just stop by your local feed store and ask what they recommend? Or possibly contact a seed company that is near you.
