We want to build a pig shelter and use cedar shakes for roofing material. I've heard of people bundling them and letting them dry. Does anyone know how to bundle cedar shakes? How long should we let them dry?
So I stopped by the local hardware store and asked one of the old guys. He said that you need to sticker the shakes and then tie them into bundles with pretty strong cord. Cinch them tight.
I wonder if one could make a 20x20 square. No stickers. Just a couple of shakes going north-south and then a couple of shakes going east-west, then a couple more north-south, etc. When you get a pile about 20 inches high then tie the cord around that.
