I assume that this is your way of saying that these things aren't going to happen in a timely manner or at all. Letting off a little steam?

Please keep us informed concerning how much this brings in. Wait a minute, if I want to know that I'm pretty sure I have to pay fifty bucks.

I hit the payment link and it seems to be legit.

I think it might be useful to explain a few things. First, permies moderators are all volunteers, many with busy/hectic lives. Some are dealing with family health issues. Many work full time jobs. We all have gardens we want to be in, too! None of us are paid. And, so, some days we all have hard days, and it might take longer to answer questions or emails or deal with issues.

Dave has decided to offer his services as a paid staff person. That means he'll drop other priorities to solve your problems in a timely manner. He's offering to take on the hard or time consuming jobs that other staff just might not be able to handle at the moment.

You are by no means required to pay to get things done. We moderators are moderators because we love permies and want to make it awesome and thriving. Just know that if you want that singles ad taken down ASAP, it might not happen right away if we're all sleeping or away from the computer, etc.

Dave knows his way around this forum really well, and does a great job making nice wikis and threads and has dealt with a lot of behind-the-scenes issues. If you want/need staff to do something ASAP, or just want a nice thread for your business or help with understanding the forum, you can certainly ask in tinkering or PM or even email, and we'll be there when we can--as we always have. You might even get lucky, and one of the volunteer staff will really be passionate about your request and help you really quickly and thoroughly. Or you can make sure things happen quickly and in a quality manner by paying to have Dave take care of it.

Nicole has pretty much nailed it on the mark!

We have lots going on with our lives, and I have plenty going on, as well.

And quite frankly, I have lots of little side projects and stuff that interest me, and I spend lots of my free time working on those. And it just so happens that I like the stuff happening on permies, and so, a good amount of my free time ends up over here just because I want to.

At the moment, most of my time has been going to making PEP wiki pages, because I enjoy the little bit of research into new topics I get from making those pages. And I realized I perhaps have a knack for content creation, because I have gotten a remark that some of those pages I've made are "scarily well done." We get emails about sponsored content and have to delete stuff that could be from legit business owners or content producers, because they don't do a good job of integrating their content into permies.com and just come off as chaffy spam. And that's part of why I am offering up my skills at creating content on our forum to people who seem to be having a little trouble by offering sponsored content.

We should throw him a surprise party. It will cheer him up. We can use this tiny ad:
