i know you enjoy seing other forumite projects, here is our traditional orchard. tilling and distribution ditch has been made by hand using a hoe
Personally i don't like to disturb the soil, but this is how is done by local farmers and this orchard patch was a way to thank our neighbours gifts (plants fruits seeds and advices) and at the time get some skills on planting and watering for a newbies like us.
Our piece of land is about two Acres, and it has shared water rights from the irrigation ditch every Monday from 4 a.m. to 4 p.m.
we use a plastic sheet and a tool handle to take out and detour water from the ditch (i think my brother read that in Bill Mollson`s book) it make the process easy and don't need to move too much dirt or carry plastic dirt bags around.
Weve planted so far broadbeans, onions, garlic, chard, leek lettuce endive, strawberries, artichoke, and a patch of almond and hazlenut.
Also let me introduce you my three spanish greyhounds Lee Loo, Ruby and Fortu.... enjoy.
